David Raya Highlights Squad Depth as Vital to Multiple Trophy Pursuit
David Raya has stated that intense competition for starting positions is fueling Arsenal's outstanding form, with the keeper asserting that the squad's depth under Mikel Arteta is so extraordinary that they can compete for various titles this season.
Dominant Wins Highlight The Gunners' Prowess
Arsenal's latest comprehensive win over Atlético Madrid marked their sixth straight victory and 10th success in 12 matches. Having let in just three goals—a record low at this point in the team's legacy—they have established a narrow advantage at the Premier League summit and a perfect record in the European competition after three outings.
Squad Changes and Versatility Key to Achievements
Raya has featured in nearly every game, aside from one domestic cup fixture, but the manager has frequently changed the team following heavy spending on recruits. When asked about chasing several pieces of silverware, he responded, "Absolutely, I believe so. The depth is incredible. We have many players who can perform in two, three, or four positions."
Like in the Atlético match, a teammate came on as a striker and is capable of playing as a central midfielder or No 10. Such flexibility is what the boss has, and it's being utilized to benefit the team. Things appear very, very good, and that depth is crucial for us.
Rivalry Drives Performance
The Spain international continued, "That gives you an extra level in practice and games because if you're not at it, your place is at risk instantly. That fosters intense rivalry in sessions and on the pitch, which is really, really important, and the whole squad accepts it."
Defensive Solidity a Collective Effort
The team have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and the keeper has faced a mere one attempt in their last three wins against three opponents.
"It's a collective effort from the striker to the goalie," Raya explained. "Each player is committed, determined not to give anything away, and the goal is to cut out passes prior to it crossing the halfway line. By winning it back, it allows a fast break. This is essential for the entire team to understand that way, and we're not allowing many chances, which is ideal."
