Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
