A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The reason of the incident remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, police said.
How It Happened
Authorities indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the property managing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"The report indicates the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report confirmed.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the assault.
