Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented known failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
