The President Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot Military Soldiers to White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Attendees came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy led the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to speak to the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
