The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in the state of California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure lost his life when his automobile collided and caught fire on a motorway in Los Angeles on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his family, and everyone impacted by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
